now that we know what its about and what its pushing at us, I vented my thoughts, now i make my choice to watch this silently and hope it gets better, watch it or not, up to you people, im done talking about it though so later! ... now what? It's always something...bye
Yeah that is it @hellfist it is the AMOUNT of it. EXACTLY. For example i been watching black lightning since it started, and only rarely like hardly at all is there any agenda's or causes, or w/e related to race or feminism or anything other than the entertainment value of the story they are telling about freeland, their home. The fact Gambi is the only white actor NEVER comes up, but the fact he is the weakest actor in the show might come up, point is that nobody THINKS about SJW shit watching that show, throughout every episode. The whole show being based on feminism power or w/e is not on there and you would think that Black Lightning would be pushing the race card, but they are not, which is why i enjoy it. They do it without making you eat it, like i think BW is doing here
of course it was all speculation and guess work prior to this episode, which cleared up any confusion. As to why she didn't recognize painkiller, i still speculate new moves, plus being sick from the poison, and the darkness they fought in plus she wouldn't know kalil as well as her sister does, all add up in the adrenaline rush of a fight, are good explanations, but still just speculation.
HRRoach I won't say that to brag because tbh i wasn't sure but now we know Anissa was poisoned by Khalil, so i guess the sound that i heard was the poison. As for Odell I don't think he is dead it's seemed to easy. I think the pearce family will finally learn that Kalil is alive in the next episode. And one last think Lyne isn't acting like herself because of the green light that she is taking it's because of Odell. But yes in today's episode she was a bitch XD. Anyway overall good episode (my opinion)
for the love of god some one kill his wife, man i can't stand her she is such a fucking bitch, guess the sex is great as only reason i see him staying with the bitch. Other than that not a bad show, still the whole premise is waked but got to see some cool powers, don't know but the whole SJW thing still seeping in here and there even in this to a lesser degree.
Somebody gets offended no matter what these days. The show is not about what year she was deployed and her pstd is being well acted. The cut scenes where the lover was killed freezing her up in her current task was well directed, edited and nothing suggested she was acting in anyway that is disrespectful to pstd patients, but your point is understood, i will think about that now and let it ruin everything i watch from now on. (since we getting snippy hahahaha jk), nobody stopped a live action hindu little mermaid yet. If blind people aren't raging over "See", then i dont know what the world is coming to, o lord....wow
If a person is being paid an obscene amount of money to write about something REAL (military service and PTSD) or to act that part, he/she should do the research or get the training to RESPECT that reality. "The Last Ship" and "SEAL Team"--to name two--do that. Many medical or cop shows do have a commitment to getting it right and hire consultants: "House" and "Blue Bloods" come to mind. In "Stumptown" the show runners put forth the effort to find a good actor with Down syndrome to play a Down-syndrome character and to find a black man to play a black man. Would having an actor without Down syndrome play the role for laughs or having a white woman in blackface and drag have been okay as long as some found the show entertaining? No way. THAT kind of bigotry would never be made. Then if it's okay to have a slight-built woman with no believable skills written by a man who has no knowledge of the subject, the message is clear: THIS kind of bigotry is okay, because, well, we don't really know or care about any of THOSE PEOPLE--and nobody'll notice anyway.
SOW99 Are you just posting imbd random 70778's review, there are so many quotes in your quotes I can't tell what is you and what is imdb. I didn't watch this show for one second thinking that it was a reality show, so i didn't have the same kind of disappointment that the military people who feel disrespected, might have. Not to disrespect those soldiers and their work, but i think even most of them are able to understand tv entertainment is not always an accurate representation of reality. If it were think how many people would be offended by medical shows, or medical workers would be offended by almost anything on a show when injuries happen, none of those are accurate not one. cop shows too... how accurate is it to have these super powers on every other show?
@ Woj exactly what episode of elseworlds, which show, is batwoman established? Also remember this years event is in a multiverse previously shown to have billions of earths so it would not be hard to throw this batwoman in without changing any story's timelines. And what is SJW? I thought, not 100%, that a mention of batgirl was made, but do not recall batwoman in elseworlds episodes. I also thought that batwoman was originally going to be called batgirl, but maybe i am wrong.
@vcoll once again i agree with you. The D.E.O., just lets supergirl take luthor to the "secret" place that stores weapons that can destroy supergirl. Something about trust went too far there. Nobody else would be allowed to go. But, I guess supergirl is supposed to be showing transparency, desperate to make up for her previous deception. It makes more sense with that in mind
I wonder how are they going to deal with the fact that in last years crossover (elseworlds) batwamen was already established, and now, a year later she's only a few weeks/months in the business. From a separate shows standpoint it would not matter, but they have just 1 episode left before the crossover, and the timeline is fucked. Typical SJW logic, or rather lack thereof.
@VCOLL You can not, under any circumstances, have political correctness, wokenes and social justice together with good writing. It is impossible, not only because those things are mutually exclusive, but also because sjw are morons incapable of writing a good story.
Review of "Stumptown" by "random 70778" on IMDb: "Firstly, the main character is supposed to be a combat veteran. She is supposed to have been in military intelligence but also have had combat experience (hence the PTSD trope). Yet everything the lead actress does says "no military service ever." The way she stands, her bearing, her firearm (mis)handling, and demonstrates (lack of) situational awareness is evident over and over. In fact she says "combat tour" in Afghanistan with service calculated to be about 2006 -- and women did not do combat tours in Afghanistan until 2013. All throughout the putative military experience is a bit insulting since the writer and actress clearly have no idea about it."-----This is pretty much what I said 2 months ago. "Dex" is NOT believable to anyone who knows the real thing; she is a minstrel show. And I REALLY do not like writers and actors who in their private lives disrespect the military and then get paid more than any service member does, to write and play pretend BADLY. "SEAL Team" on and off screen does it right; "Stumptown" damn well does not.
1st off NEVER TRUST A LUTHOR! 2nd wheres SUPERMAN? HIS FORTRESS DETECTS A LUTHOR BUT HE NEVER SHOWS UP? Finaly How the hell did she just rewrite KRYPTONIAN TECH THAT SHES NEVER INTERACTED WITH BEFORE? & all that Talking Supergirl coulda supersped that out her hands this whole thing feels sketch????
Batwoke or wokebat or whatever. What a pile of steaming donkey shit. Getting tired of this woke BS that's taking over all series like a cancer. This isn't entertainment anymore, this is literally ideological propaganda and politics. If I want to engage in politics I'd turn on the news channel and watch debates. I will give this one a hard pass and any other series that attempts to do this woke BS.
Good episode, stepping it up the acting but the way she talks to her brother is, in part, keeping him from overcoming whatever his affliction is. I like the bad guy leader guy, as an actor. He is one of the better actors on the show. I cant help thinking that cop is a cybernetic or at least almost human. - no spoiler just saving space for ya - good episode
Over the top this episode is more gay rights bs, totally destroying the entire idea of a superhero being better than advertising billboard for any 'cause' that single outs one group. with superman its "justice FOR ALL". People just dont see how supporting one group is no different than the people that oppress that group. If you say you are gay, it doesn't give you any right that i don't have being straight.
well, disappointing here i thought they would go the other way and leave the supernatural as a maybe. Kind of ruins the whole science and fact stuff of the show now, when they can just chalk it up to the bogyman. Still it is an ok show but the supernatural element now just seems kind of predictable.
Thanks for the reply, SonOfWoody99. Unfortunately all the episodes are in French. :( Hopefully the English versions will be available before too long. :)
"Suspension of disbelief" goes back to Aristotle: a blind society that could--or would even want to--produce elaborate costumes and VISUAL ornaments; machines that are still working after a few hundred years; two children in an illiterate world who teach themselves to read--and understand what they were reading--in a matter of years (even assuming one of the books is a picture dictionary); a system of knots and spaces that aren't just memory devices, but convey new information (this would require 40 unique knot/space patterns for sounds, with strings hundreds of feet long, or 40,000 unique patterns for words, which is impossible). So turning off the critical, logic mind is absolutely required--and then something unexpected happens: this fantasy is actually a GOOD story well-told. Beautiful photography and ambiance, interesting characters and acting, pacing with action and exposition balanced, and an engrossing world all combine to make something rather new and well worth watching. The first season is only half over, and season 2 will start filming in February 2020. So for the rest of 2019 we get 8*-9* series for both fantasy and scifi (The Mandalorian) to make up for a string of real disappointments.
really liking this show as it leaves things ambiguous enough to make you wonder, the lead actress is very great in her role. I feel that Mike Colter is an odd man out, i like him as an actor but think the role is just an odd fir for him. Despite that still a great show and the third man of the trio has great fit to the show as well.
Anybody watch Stumptown? I believe it to be one of the #BestSeries currently airing. My comments explain why I enjoy the show; I can’t remember the last time I was so taken by a show. To be honest, I don’t think #ABC had any idea the kind of reception the recommend
@CuteGothPirate--(1) I wish that too, but the linkers here can't do the titling and have to take it as they find it; if the domain doesn't tell the size, I use an extension in Firefox that does (2) there are surprisingly few links >200; vidoza added; better ones are coming (3) some domains are seeing increased traffic (and transfers from the dead sites) that they aren't equipped for, but some are upgrading; smaller files work better for most for now
Stumptown Season 1 Episode 6 (s01e06)
Dex Parios is a strong, assertive, and unapologetically sharp-witted Army veteran working as a P.I. in Portland, Oregon. With a complicated personal history and only herself to rely on, she solves other people’s messes with a blind eye toward her own.
